The Donkey
The Donkey is a very old emblem for Unna. In 1804 other cities got animals too. For example, Soest has got the cow, Kamen a fish and Werl has got the pig. There are 12 donkeys in Unna- Each of them costs 2.950€. At the marketplace in Unna stands a donkey fountain which costs 30.000€, because it`s made of steel. You can buy a donkey on the Westphalia market every year in the 25th of April. The Donkey can´t break because it´s made of glassfibre

1950: The city celebrates the 700th ,,birthday´´. At the front of the festival procession is a donkey
1978: The donkey fountain is built (in picture 1)
1998: The ,,Hellweg`` museum opened, and you can buy cuddly donkeys
2008: The Sparkasse opens with a donkey exhibition.
2009: In this year the can buy the grassfibre donkey for the first time
